A private development aims to create an intergenerational district in Viganello, an area of Lugano subject to important transformations following, above all, the opening of the USI-SUPSI university campus and the revitalization of the Cassarate river axis. The project program involved different space types, mainly residential, with apartments at moderate rents, student housing, residences for the elderly, administrative functions with modular spaces, commercial options and spaces open to the public. A program that would refine and specify over time, open to continuous mutation and transformation. The project proposes an intergenerational community with a recognizable identity, an accessible and permeable space. Four volumes, two bars and two towers, define an open and traversable courtyard, giving a sense of neighborhood and community. Minimal use of building materials is provided through an essential and linear structure, allowing for accommodating the various programs planned and those that may be integrated in the future. An infrastructure that can adapt over time, thanks to the clear division between the primary building system, facilities, and light space subdivisions.
